Tubocurarine chloride is a drug used to cause relaxation of the skeletal muscles during anesthesia and convulsive states. It is also used as a treatment for black widow poisoning. The drug is synthesized from a South American Indian plant, curare, which was used to tip hunting arrows in order to paralyse the prey.

Great care should be employed when administering tubocurarine, and should only be given by care providers who have the proper equipment as well as the capability to ventilate, intubate and provide antidotes or additional therapy in the event of overdose.
