The nasolacrimal ducts or tear ducts are a pair of ducts that lead from the central corner of each eye to the nasal cavity.  Normally, they carry tears that cleanse the eyes to the nasal passage for disposal.  However, if they are blocked or overwhelmed, tears form in the eyes.
