Silicone deposition is the formation of congregation of silicone particles in scar tissue and perinephric empty space. It is commonly seen in patients with silicone implants, such as those used in breast enhancement surgery, particularly in the surgical scars and the space immediately surrounding the implant.
At present, the health effects of this sort of deposition are unclear. Moreover, silicone deposition is common even when the implant remains intact and the silicone could be introduced during the process to prepare the space for the implant.
