Quadriplegia, or more properly Tetraplegia, is a medical term to describe a person who has paralysis that affects all four limbs and the torso. It is usually the result of damage to the upper part of the spinal cord (above or at the C7 vertebrae). This can be due to numerous causes such as traumatransverse myelitismultiple sclerosispolio or muscular dystrophy.

In addition to motor control and sensation, a patient may have trouble controlling their bladderboweldigestionbreathing and may also have sexual dysfunction.
