Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor used for treatment of dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease, acid reflux disease and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. It is one of the most widely prescribed drugs in the world, and is available over-the-counter in some countries.

Side effects are rare but can include headache, dizziness, coughing, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, constipation, back pain, weakness and rashes.

It has very few drug interactions, and even fewer that are serious.
