Meiosis is the biological process by which cells divide in half so that they only have one set of chromosomes. It's a key process in all species that carry on sexual reproduction. In human females, all meiosis ends by the creation of the egg cells in the ovaries during fetal development. In males, meiosis is carried on continuously from puberty to death in the testicles as part of the creation of sperm.
