Lin-Manuel Miranda is a Tony Award and Grammy Award-winning composer, rapper, lyricist and actor. On House M.D., he appeared as Alvie in "Broken" and "Baggage" in Season 6. He is most famous for writing and starring in the Broadway musical "Hamilton", which opened on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theater in 2015. He played Alexander Hamilton.

Miranda started his film career in high school, when at the age of sixteen he wrote, directed, and acted in Clayton's Friends. After graduating from Wesleyan University, he formed Freestyle Love Supreme, a hip hop comedy troupe. In 1999, Miranda started work on "In the Heights," a broadway musical nominated for 13 Tony Awards. In addition to his work onstage, Miranda has worked as an English teacher, columnist, and restaurant reviewer. Miranda's music was featured in the 2016 Disney film Moana. "How Far I'll Go" received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

Mary Poppins Returns in which Miranda plays a lamplighter, was released in November 2018.

Encanto, an animated Disney film released in 2021, sees Miranda taking on the role of songwriter in an award-winning soundtrack.

Miranda lives in New York with his wife and two children.
