Epirubicin is a chemotherapy drug. It is usually used as a follow up treatment for breast cancer after surgery to remove a tumor, although it is also used against other types of cancer. It works by interfering with the function of DNA and RNA, which both prevents cell duplication and can result in cell death. It is often favored over other chemotherapy drugs as it has fewer side effects even though it is just about as effective.
