Deferoxamine is a pharmaceutical that binds to iron and aluminum in the body, allowing the combined compound to be passed in the urine. It is commonly used to treat iron toxicity, aluminum poisoning and hemochromatosis.

It does have severe side effects, such as diarrhea, vomiting, fever, hearing loss and vision loss. It can also cause an allergic reaction and low blood pressure.
