Daniel E. "Dan" Butler is an American actor best known for his role as "Bulldog" Briscoe on Frasier. On House, M.D., he portrayed House's old rival Philip Weber in the episode Distractions.

Butler has appeared in dozens of supporting roles in movies and television. He was in The Silence of the Lambs, Columbo, Quantum Leap, The X Files, Caroline in the City, Star Trek: Voyageur, King of the Hill, Suddenly Susan, Ally McBeal, Malcolm in the Middle, Monk and Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Butler is a vocal advocate for gay rights and was one of many public to speak out against California's Proposition 22 that would have defined marriage as being between a man and a woman. He came out on an episode of Entertainment Tonight in 1994 while playing the aggressively heterosexual sportscaster "Bulldog" on Frasier.
