Chorea or choreia describes any abnormal involuntary movement. Most people have involuntary movements (such as breathing), but these are constant from individual to individual. Chorea describes movements that are not usual from reflex or while asleep. Most of the time, chorea involves the feet or the hands. Another characteristic that distinguishes it is the lack of a rhythmic pattern such as what occurs with a tic. It also tends to travel up or down a set of muscles.

Chorea is a distinguishing feature of Huntington's disease but can occur with rheumatic fever, certain types of drugs (such as levodopa, anti-convulsants and anti-psychotics), Wilson's disease, and McLeod Syndrome. Treatment depends on the underlying condition.
