Ceftazidime is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It is particularly effective against Pseudomonas infections but is also used to treat infections of the respiratory tracturinary tract infections, infections of the bloodstream, joint infections abdominal infections and meningitis. It must be given by intravenous or intramuscular injection.

Side effects are uncommon and are typical of antibiotics, including allergy and adverse reactions at the injection site. Like many other antibiotics, it is contra-indicated in patients with kidney damage.
