The blind spot is a small portion of each retina through which the nerves and blood vessels travel through to form the optic nerves. As it does not have any light receptor cells, the retina does not perceive light at this point. However, the brain extrapolates information from the surrounding cells so that the brain does not perceive the blind spot in most cases.
