Amy Irving is an American actress who has appeared in both supporting and starring roles in her 35 year career in television and the movies. She first appeared on television in 1975 on an episode of The Rookies, but literally made a big splash in the movie Carrie as one of the title character's tormentors. This led to featured roles in The Competition, Yentl (as the woman who chased after the title character), and Micki & Maude. In Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Irving provided the singing voice for Jessica Rabbit with Kathleen Turner providing the speaking voice.

On House, M.D., Irving played one of House's favourite authors, Alice Tanner, in the episode Unwritten, who is taken to the emergency room when she attempts suicide and House puts her on a psych hold.

Irving was married to film director Steven Spielberg from 1985 to 1989.
